Brigadier Ed Butler joins weServed as Chairman

We're proud to announce that Brigadier Ed Butler CBE DSO has joined weServed as Chairman — bringing with him decades of operational leadership, strategic insight, and an unwavering commitment to those who serve.

Ed's military career is legendary. He led 22 SAS over 9/11 and commanded Task Force Helmand, in 2006, during some of the most intense operations in Afghanistan. But what truly sets Ed apart is how he's continued to lead — far beyond uniform.

After 24 years of military service, Ed transitioned into business with remarkable success. As a Partner Director of Salamanca Risk Management, he helped grow the company from a 10-person team to a £25M+ operation. He went on to lead its global business development and played a key role in a successful management buyout of its risk division.

He has also advised Fortune 500 firms and governments as a Senior Advisor at S-RM - a global intelligence and risk consultancy — and continues to provide strategic leadership in the energy sector, including at EDF Energy.

His work with causes like the Lloyd's Patriotic Fund and Clocktower Foundation underscores his deep commitment to veteran support. Ed's leadership style is direct, calm, and purpose-driven. Off-duty, he's a passionate gravel biker, a beekeeper, and a devoted family man.

"This isn't just another board role. It's a continuation of my commitment to those who have served their country." Ed said. "I believe weServed is uniquely positioned to make a lasting impact for our veterans and their families - and I'm excited to work with the team and help lead that journey."

Hugh, CEO of weServed said;

"I am delighted that Brigadier Ed Butler has agreed to become the first Chairman of weServed. Not only has Ed had an exemplary military career, delivering courageous and unquestionable leadership in the world's most inhospitable and dangerous conflict zones but since leaving military service, he has provided a wide range of industry organisations purpose, direction and a level of governance that is exceptional."
