Summer 2025 Update from the weServed Team

As we move into the summer, the weServed team is proud to share some of the exciting developments that are taking shape across our platform and community. From a brand new website to expanded support services and leadership changes, everything we are doing right now is focused on delivering more value, more trust, and more opportunities for those who have served and their families.
Launching in July: The New weServed Website
The Mark 2 version of the weServed website will go live this July. This upgraded platform is faster, easier to navigate, and built with one goal in mind: to serve veterans and their families better.
We want to thank everyone who took part in our recent UX survey. Your feedback helped shape the design and functionality of this new version. If you entered the survey prize draw, check your inbox. All winners have now been contacted by email.
A Trusted Space, Free from Walter Mittys
We know that trust is everything in this community. That is why we are rolling out a formal verification process to ensure that every member of weServed is a genuine veteran or an immediate family member.
To create an account, new users will be asked to provide proof of service. This will help us keep the platform respectful, safe, and free from Walter Mittys. It also means that when you connect with someone through weServed, you can trust they have walked a similar path.

A New Social Platform for Veterans and Families
With the new website comes a dedicated social platform created exclusively for verified veterans and their families. This space allows members to reconnect with old friends, share achievements, offer support, and build new relationships in a respectful and private environment.
It is a place where community can grow and where shared experiences bring people together.
Welcoming Our New Chairman: Brigadier Ed Butler
We are honoured to welcome Brigadier Ed Butler CBE DSO as our new Chairman. Ed brings with him a legacy of leadership, beginning with 24 years of distinguished military service. He led 22 SAS in the years following 9/11 and commanded Task Force Helmand during some of the most challenging operations in Afghanistan.
After leaving the Armed Forces, Ed entered the business world, helping build Salamanca Risk Management into a global firm and leading a successful management buyout of its risk division. He has since advised major organisations through S-RM, a global intelligence consultancy, and continues to support strategic work in the energy sector with companies such as EDF Energy.
Beyond his professional roles, Ed supports causes such as the Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund and the Clocktower Foundation. His commitment to the veteran community is deep and personal.
“This is not just another board role,” Ed said. “It is a continuation of my commitment to those who have served. I believe weServed is uniquely placed to make a lasting difference and I am excited to help lead that mission.”
Our CEO Hugh added, “Ed brings courageous leadership and a rare depth of experience. His guidance will help shape our future as we continue to build a trusted and unified voice for veterans across the UK.”
Looking Ahead
Everything we are doing this summer is about building a stronger foundation for those who served. Whether you are seeking mental health support, career opportunities, financial relief, or simply a way to stay connected, we want you to know that we are here for you.
With the Mark 2 website launching in July and 360° Wellbeing available now, this is just the beginning.
We are building something real. We are building it with you. And we are just getting started.
