Lest weForget.

Armistice Day, Saturday 11th November 2023

An opportunity for everyone to remember the service and sacrifice the Armed Forces have made to protect our freedom and way of life.

Armistice Day is as relevant now as it was on the very first one on November 11th 1919, which was hosted at Buckingham Palace by King George V. It is an opportunity for everyone to remember the service and sacrifice the Armed Forces have made to protect our freedom and way of life. It's a time to remember the fallen and their families, but not only that; it's a time to recognise and acknowledge all of the servicemen and women who have served and continue to serve to this day.

It is proper for us to commemorate those who have lost their lives for our freedoms, those living with injuries, both physical and mental and, of course, their families who care for them. But we mustn't let people forget, amongst the fundraising and stories of heroism which make for good newspaper copy, most servicemen and women leave the Armed Forces without any headlines. We owe gratitude to all those who have served in whatever capacity and with whatever outcome.

Our government, specifically the Veterans minister, has promised to follow in the footsteps of our American, Australian, Canadian and other national allies by implementing a system to look after our Veterans. I hope that happens, and we must all hold the government to account if it doesn't, but in the meantime, let's make some changes of our own and put some of our systems in place to help our community thrive in the real world.

To pay our bills, we all deal with businesses. That is why a new business is launching that will be exclusively for veterans and their families and provide real-world help in cutting costs. We are making deals to benefit veterans, from banking to healthcare, discounts on essentials, and employment. weServed is a business run by veterans like me who understand business for veterans' benefit.
